On Dec. 11th-12th , 2018, Prof. Yanfang Ren from University of Rochester was invited to come to our hospital for academic exchange and visit. He has been engaged in oral clinical medicine, resident medicine teaching and clinical research for a long time, obtaining Iranpour Award for Excellence in Clinical Education in 2016.
On the evening of Dec.11th, Prof. Yanfang Ren delivered a speech titled Competency Requirements of Dentists for our teachers, students and trainees. He introduced the essence and training mode of clinical core competency of American dentists, and elaborated the frontier ideas of clinical competency in standardized resident training by closely combining real clinical cases. After the speech, a heated discussion was held for further communication.
On the morning of the 12th, Prof. Zhuan Bian held a talk with Prof. Yanfang Ren, discussing the differences in standardized resident training, undergraduate and postgraduate education at home and abroad. Subsequently, accompanied by Prof. Zhi Chen (Vice Dean of WHUSS), Prof. Yanfang Ren visited the clinical departments and central lab of our hospital. This visit deepened the understanding between the two sides, exchanged academic ideas, and laid a solid foundation for close cooperation in the future.
