Our delegation (including Prof. Tai Baojun, Prof. Du Minquan, Chief Physician Jiang Han and Deputy Chief Physician Liu Chang ) attended the 13th International Conference of Asian Academy of Preventive Dentistry (AAPD) held in Khon Kaen, Thailand from Nov.21st to Nov. 23rd ,2018. The conference was hosted by the Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University. More than 300 delegates from China, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and other countries and regions participated in the conference.
The theme of the conference is "Improving health through oral health". Representatives launched eight special reports and discussions centered on this theme, including oral problems of the elderly, the impact of smoking on oral and overall health, the status quo and future prospects of oral prevention technology, the relationship between oral health and systemic diseases, fluoride prevention of dental caries, oral health promotion and global oral health status, etc.
During the conference, Prof. Du Minquan (Director, Department of Preventative Dentistry, WHUSS ) and Chief Physician Jiang Han made poster presentations on the prevalence of childhood caries and adult periodontosis in the results of the Fourth National Oral Health Epidemiological Survey, and conducted deep discussions and exchanges with colleagues. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat (Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University) announced at the closing ceremony that the next AAPD will be held in Daegu, South Korea, in 2020.
