From Nov.1st to Nov.3rd, 2018, our hospital successfully organized the “Advanced Training Course on Cochrane Systematic Review and Net Meta Analysis of WHUSS in 2018”. Prof. Anne-Marie Glenny (Dean of the School of Dentistry, the University of Manchester, Associate Editor-in-chief of Cochrane Oral Health Group) and Prof. Yu-Kang TU (Director of Institute of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Department of Public Health, NTU) were invited to be keynote speakers for this course. Over 140 graduate students and doctors in the field of stomatology participated in this training.
In the course of the training, Prof. Bian Zhuan, Director of the Center for Evidence-Based Stomatology, gave an opening address for this course. Dr. Hua Fang, Executive Vice Director of the Center for Evidence-Based Stomatology served as the host and translator.
This course comprises three parts, covering Basic Systematic Review Course, Net Meta Analysis Workshop, and Cochrane Systematic Review Workshop, instructed by Dr. Hua Fang, Prof. Yu-Kang TU and Prof. Anne-Marie Glenny respectively. In order to combine theory and practice, round table form was adopted to facilitate participants’ discussion and practice.
During the training, the two experts also visited some featured spots, like the Center for Evidence-Based Stomatology, clinical departments, and the State Key Laboratory Breeding Base of Basic Science of Stomatology (Hubei-MOST) & Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedicine Ministry of Education, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University. Meanwhile, both parties communicated with each other on some issues related to medical treatment, teaching and scientific research, unanimously expecting further cooperation.
Cochrane Collaboration is a famous international organization of evidence-based medicine, whose Cochrane Systematic Review is hailed as golden criteria of systematic review and has been attracting great attention in medical community. This training course is the first one on Cochrane Systematic Review lectured by Cochrane Oral Health Group in Mainland China, and thus can be regarded as a milestone for the further development of evidence-based stomatology in China.
