Prof. Alex Fok from Minnesota Dental Research Center of Biomaterials and Biomechanics, University of Minnesota paid an academic visit to our hospital on Oct.17th, 2018 at the invitation of Prof. Xiao Qun, Director of Teaching and Research Office of Dental Materials in Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, On behalf of our hospital. Prof. Chen Zhi, Vice Dean, and Dr. He Miao, Vice Director of Scientific Research Office warmly welcomed his arrival.
In the afternoon, Prof. Alex Fok delivered a wonderful lecture called Stones-Why don’t we see more of them? on the research of biomineralization for our teachers and students. This lecture boasted a sound atmosphere due to Prof. Alex Fok’s rigorous and humorous speech as well as active participation of the audience. In the course of the academic exchange, he also discussed some related issues with Prof. Huang Cui’s Research Group.
Prof. Alex Fok owns both MSc of University of Oxford and PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, University of Manchester. At present, he serves as Director of Minnesota Dental Research Center of Biomaterials and Biomechanics, University of Minnesota. His main research interests cover biomaterials, biomechanics and optimization of prostheses etc. He has published around 100 papers as first author or corresponding author in some international academic journals. His research on dental materials and biomechanics has certain international influence.
