During April 20th to 23rd, Prof. Chen Zhi (Vice Dean of School of Stomatology Wuhan University) led eleven experts to College of Oral Medicine Chung Shan Medical University for attending the Fifth Academic Symposium of School of Stomatology Wuhan University and Chung Shan Medical University.
Dean Zhang Yuchao and Dean Gao Jiaze from College of Oral Medicine Chung Shan Medical University enthusiastically welcomed Wuhan University delegation. At the very beginning of the symposium, Vice Dean Chen Zhi gave a detailed introduction of the history of cooperation in the past 24 years, and old photos reminded us of past unordinary days. Subsequently, he introduced our progress in scientific research thoroughly in 2017 and our blueprint after being selected as the "Double World-classes" development discipline in the field of stomatology. Meanwhile, he may the friendship between School of Stomatology Wuhan University and College of Oral Medicine Chung Shan Medical University last forever. Likewise, Dean Zhang Yuchao also reviewed the past 24 years of cooperation as well as showed their research and teaching achievements to us, and hoped young and middle-aged scholars on both sides would continue to promote our cooperation and communication further in the future.
In the latter symposium, Prof. Shang Zhengjun, Prof. Du Minquan, Prof. Zhang Yufeng, Prof. Zhao Jihong, Prof. Huang Cui, Dr. Ji Yaoting and Dr. Liu Huan from School of Stomatology Wuhan University, Prof. Yan Min, Prof. Yu Chengjia, Prof. Tang Zhengming, Dr. Lin Taicheng, Dr. Yu Quanhang and Dr. Chen Yizi from College of Oral Medicine Chung Shan Medical University reported their research achievements respectively. Teachers as well as students of College of Oral Medicine Chung Shan Medical University proposed some questions to explore with experts present in terms of some issues of common focus, including dental caries, Chinese herbal medicine and natural compounds for treatment of oral mucosal disease, cleft lip and palate, and epigenetic mechanism of oral cancer. Besides, Prof. Yan Ping, Prof. Zhang Lu, Prof. Li Bo and Prof. Song Guangtai from our school made poster presentation as well.
At the interval, Dean Gao Jiaze accompanied our delegation to visit College of Oral Medicine Chung Shan Medical University and discussed the differences in oral treatment and teaching deeply between Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
Since 1994, these two schools have been cooperating with each other closely in many respects, like PBL teaching, clinical teaching and scientific research. In March 27th, 2010, the first bilingual academic symposium was held in Chung Shan Medical University successfully, so this one is the fifth bilingual academic symposium held in Taiwan. Next one is about to be hosted by our school after two years.
