In order to further implement graduate education innovation project of Ministry of Education of China and to promote academic exchanges between doctoral candidates, we held the National Craniofacial Development and the Epigenetic Control Mechanism of Doctoral Students Academic Forum from June 27^th to June 28^th, 2017 at Hospital of Stomatology of Wuhan University.

Famous experts were invited to the forum. On June 27^th, President ZhuanBian, Vice President Zhi Chen attended the opening ceremony. President ZhuanBian delivered a welcome speech. Professor Hongbing Shu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a speech entitled "Regulation of Innate Antiviral Response" as the special guest of the opening ceremony. The report, as a remarkable beginning of the forum, introduced the research system and achievements of Prof. Shu in simple terms.

Prof. YiPing Chen from Tulane University, Professor Songling Wang from Capital Medical University and Prof. Yan Jin from the School of Stomatology, the Fourth Military Medical University, generously shared their scientific research ideas, they also showed the results of their research group and the next research plans. President ZhuanBian addressed a special report entitled "Research Strategies for Oral Genetic Diseases". Researcher Hongjie Yao from Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Yongsheng Zhou from Peking University School of Stomatology and Professor Xinquan Jiang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Stomatology reported the latest research progress in their respective fields. Prof. Shuo Chen from the University of Texas, United States, gave a presentation entitled"Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 Signaling in Tooth Development". Attendees benefited a lot from the professional knowledge and keen scientific thoughts of these outstanding scholars.

Doctoral students also performed well in this forum on June 28^th. In addition to Wuhan University, the students from another 10 well-known colleges like Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Capital Medical University, Sichuan University, the Fourth Military Medical University, Sun Yat-sen University, Nanjing University, Nanjing Medical University and Fujian Normal University attended the forum. Doctoral students gave their wonderful speech on the stage leisurely and eloquently, to show their scientific research achievements on Craniofacial Development And the Epigenetic Control Mechanism. Prof. Shuo Chen, Prof. YiPing Chen, Prof. Xinquan Jiang, Prof. Min Wu from College of Life Sciences at Wuhan University and Prof. Xinzhi Ding from Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan as review experts commented on the reports of doctoral students from various angles. Specialists celebrated the students for their scientific research fruits, and at the same time, also gave them the forward direction for some new research ideas. During the whole conference, the atmosphere was very enthusiastic. All the students actively participated in the forum, immersing themselves in the academic feast.

In addition, on the 27^th, during the meeting intermittent, we organized doctoral students from brother universities to visit The State Key Laboratory Breeding Base of Basic Science of Stomatology of Wuhan University, as well as the new outpatient service building to show the treatment environment and operation scene of our dental hospital. In the afternoon of 28th, doctoral students visited the beautiful campus of Wuhan University, as well as the Green Road beside the East Lake with our company, feeling the unique charm of the city of Wuhan.

Two days’ academic exchange activity is compact but impassioned, short but delicate. All the teachers and students feel rewarding. We also hope the forum as an opportunity to promote the research of Craniofacial Development and the Epigenetic Control Mechanism to a new level.
