On Dec.21st,2018, the 24th SHOFU INC. Simulation of International Conference was held in our hospital in order to enable our doctoral students to experience and understand the whole process of international conference. It is a new exploration of cultivating internationalized graduate students in our hospital, and also a routine preliminary doctoral thesis defense before graduation every year.
18 doctoral students from our hospital took part in this competition. Prof. Zhi Chen (Vice Dean, WHUSS) and Dr. Miao He (Director of Scientific Research Office, WHUSS) attended the conference. Dr. Huan Liu presided over the conference, and 12 representatives of teachers from various disciplines served as the judges.
During the three-hour conference, all the participants expound their research topics professionally in English with a mixture of full enthusiasm and positive attitude. The audiences were deeply impressed by the rigorous logic and exquisite slides, which fully demonstrated the elegant demeanor of doctoral students in stomatology.
From the perspective of related professional field, these judges made penetrating comments on students' research topics, pointed out the shining points and shortcomings in their researches, and also put forward valuable suggestions for them with earnest and rigorous academic attitude. Iida Hirokazu (Executive Director, SHOFU INC.) highly appraised the excellent performance of the competitors in fluent Chinese, and Chunsheng Liu (Sales Manager, SHOFU INC.) fully affirmed the significance of this traditional activity.
This competition finally selected one first prize (Weiwei Deng), two second prizes (Xiaocheng Zhou, Guangtao Yu) and three third prizes (Huangheng Tao, Kai Yang and Qiwen Man). Iida Hirokazu, Chunsheng Liu, Prof. Zhi Chen (Vice Dean, WHUSS) awarded trophies and certificates to the winners. The conference ended with warm applause and complete success.
This simulation of international conference has been sponsored by SHOFU INC. since 1994. Such a constructive activity is conducive to improving our doctor's international communication ability, catering to our purpose of training comprehensive and innovative talents. What’s more, it lays a solid foundation for the construction of “Double World classes” subjects and “Double World classes” talents as well.
